Little morsels

     
  I've just added several rings and brooches to my french knot embroidered range.These join the other hand embroidered brooches and buttons now on my Etsy shop.
  For some of the brooches I have used a hand treated devore velvet and only embroidered into the gaps.This was an excuse to use some of the rayon threads from Stef  Francis that I have been hoarding as the sheen of the rayon went perfectly with the velvet.
 The rings use some of the beautiful Gloriana silks that I have a particular passion for.

There are also some of my newer range of buttons with raised work on them inspired by rocks and moss.

..and lastly a new colour way for the 1930's inspired flower border range.... a dark blue delphinium!

Alpine rocks

 A new set of buttons now on the shop.... I wanted to do some raised embroidery on the buttons which was not too expensive so I looked at various raised stitches and have started this new range of stumpwork buttons. These come in two colourways and sizes.

Lucky

    It's that time of year again...getting ready for the Knit and Stitch Show at Alexandra Palace, London. The dates have been extended this year so we start on Wednesday the 8th October and go through to Sunday the 12th..........which means I'm buttoning away ! One new line are the lucky clovers, part of my 1930's range.
    I am also going to revamp some older lines after spending the afternoon gathering all my designs from the last five years worth of sketchbooks into one new one  (oh the joy of a new sketchbook). I found this lovely long thin khadi paper book whilst teaching at West Dean over the weekend and it's perfect for my button designs. As a consequence I will bring back Goblin Market in particular.

Runes

'just finished embroidering some runes for buttons. There are three in this set, the runes for love, protection and luck. Each has a garland edge with symbolic herbs and flowers associated with each rune so love has violets, comfort has lavender and luck has thyme. They will be on Etsy when they are complete.

If the slugs didn't eat them I would have delphiniums in my garden.....so I embroider them instead !

There's a little garden of buttons going on to Etsy this week . I'm working my way through my range of 1930's inspired embroidered buttons , the delphiniums and bellis are in two colours and the hollyhocks...

..... in this heatwave they are all that is flowering in my garden.

On their way

 'finally something new for Etsy .......being made and then packed up ready to go ! These are a new line , a 'Posy set' of three different buttons all embroidered in the same colour hand dyed threads. In each set there is one button covered in french knots (millefiore), one a triple buttonhole wheel (old cushion) and the last one a cluster of lazy daisies ( wallflower).I am using my stash of lovely hand dyed threads that I get from the fairs so some are silk, some are wool/silk and there is a linen/silk mix too. They will be for sale for £15  plus postage.

Knit and Stitch Show 2012 part three

Nearly ready for the show (11th-14th October) ! I have redesigned some popular buttons and stumpwork pieces as jewellery....the faery moss is now even smaller and fits on your finger.

The earwig mystery can now be pondered whilst typing.

The stumpwork moths have left the garden and settled here with their dewdrop bodies glistening .

In case you forget the sound of the nightingale , Keats will remind you.

Hello to all the new readers ! and thankyou to the regulars who said hello in person !


Finally another thankyou to all of you who have commented on this blog and the Prick Your Finger blog about my work recently. I have been immersed in stitching and have only just found some ! It is always a joy to hear people's kind thoughts.

I will be filling up the shelves on Etsy this week with a new range of buttons and embroidery kits.........


The kit range has a bag , two dolls and some heart shaped pincushions all in blackwork on linen. (price range £5-£25)

A new world

The second big project this year is to create house buttons. They are literally very small 3d houses on buttons. Here is the forest that will go around the first house shown in its various stages. The final pieces, all approx. 3cm high, will be shown under miniature acrylic domes.

Happy Imbolc

..a little late I know but spring is only just starting in my garden. These are some of the new range from 'The Flower Border' to be on sale in March. The Delphinium is a four button set just like the Hollyhocks and Nasturtiums in previous posts.


The new Hollyhock set is a 'double pink' . I love hollyhocks and the more unusual colours the better.

Flower border

In the spring I will launch a new selection from my 1930's inspired button range. I collect the crinoline lady embroideries from this era and love the gardens set around them . This button is a miniature flower border to go with the hollyhocks already on sale. In the meantime more flowers are growing.........

A little Victorian Valentine button under a dome.Tiny diamantes from an old dress sewn onto red silk velvet. Who can it be from ? Etsy knows.............

The Immortal Nasturtium

The nasturtiums in my garden were still flowering yesterday when the first snow came. In their honour I have a new set of flower buttons which are part of a new range to be launched in the spring. These ones will be £15 for the set of four.
